PM: We will have modernized railway infrastructure on Tbilisi-Makhinjauri route
On the route of Tbilisi-Makhinjauri, we will have modernized railway infrastructure in compliance with modern standards, – Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated at the presentation of Kvishkheti-Zvare tunnel construction today.
The construction works on 8,5 km-long Kvishkheti-Zvere tunnel, the longest tunnel in Georgia, have ended. Works were implemented within the frame of railway modernization project.
“The implementation of this large scale project will increase the railway line capacity, strengthen the safety at the Pass section of the route and travel time from Tbilisi to Batumi will be reduced. In our estimation, the project will be completed by 2020. We will have modernized railway infrastructure in compliance with modern standards, “ – Prime Minister said.
According to Kvirikashvili the project is the part of Georgian government’s Four-Point Reform Plan.
