PM: We urge everyone to refrain from violence and respect law or face strict consequences

“Everyone has the right to gather and express their opinions peacefully. This will be preserved on October 4, too. However, I want to emphasise clearly: I advise everyone not to break the law. If anyone chooses to do so, they will face a swift and strict legal response,” stated the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.

Irakli Kobakhidze added that all individuals are unequivocally accountable before the law.

“I would like to remind everyone involved in violence, a small number, more than 30 individuals, have already been held accountable. The penalties are quite severe, beginning with two years of imprisonment, while some have received sentences of four or four and a half years.
Let me make it clear: anyone caught violating the law will face a firm and appropriate response. We strongly advise everyone to refrain from resorting to violence or breaking the law, or else the legal consequences will be severe,” Kobakhidze warned.

Responding to a journalist’s question regarding the distribution of the list of employees from the Special Task Force and the action plan, the Prime Minister reiterated: “If anyone attempts to violate the law, they will receive an appropriate response, including from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”

According to him, these are mere attempts that reveal the weak stance of the radical opposition.

“Such actions will accomplish nothing. If anyone seeks to break the law, they will be met with a firm response, including from law enforcement. This is a straightforward warning to those individuals,” Kobakhidze concluded.
