Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held a meeting with Kelly Degnan, US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

According to Press Service of the Government Administration, the meeting focused on the region’s security environment and the armed conflict in Ukraine.

“The Head of Georgian Government reaffirmed solidarity and support for the Ukrainian people, also underlining that the invasion of Ukraine, and military operations therein, are absolutely unacceptable and violate the principles of international law. The meeting pointed out Georgia’s maximal support of Ukraine, including on a political level, also in terms of humanitarian assistance, and in various international formats.

According to the Ambassador, Georgia’s stance is clear and unambiguous, a factor calling for appreciation. During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of the international community’s unity, a strong message against violating European security and the principles of international law. The meeting also discussed Georgia-US strategic partnership being at an all-time high and enjoying crucial importance for the two countries’ common interests, and for regional and Euro-Atlantic security. The Ambassador delivered Washington’s clear message reassuring the Prime Minister of Georgia of America’s broad bipartisan support for Georgia on its Euro-Atlantic path”, the statement by Government Administration reads.
