PM sets ambitious economic goals for 2028: Unemployment below 4%, average salary over GEL 3,500

“We recorded a 7.5 per cent economic growth in April, which is a strong and high indicator. Over the first four months of the year, the average growth has reached 8.8 per cent. In this regard, our country continues to stand out as a leader not only in the wider region but also across Europe,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated during a government session.

As the head of government emphasised, economic development will remain a priority moving forward.

“In the three years from 2022 to 2024, Georgia saw an increase of 185,000 employed workers, with the average salary rising from GEL 1,300 to 2,217. The economic growth we have achieved is benefiting the broadest segments of our population. The key now is to maintain this momentum. One of our foremost national objectives is to finally eliminate poverty, and sustained economic growth is essential to achieving that goal. Therefore, we must continue working diligently to foster rapid and inclusive economic progress in the years ahead,” Kobakhidze stated.

Kobakhidze reaffirmed the government’s commitment.

“We have clear objectives. By 2028, we aim to reduce unemployment to below 4 per cent and increase the average salary beyond GEL 3,500. With the current pace of growth, I believe these goals are achievable—what remains is our collective effort from start to finish,” Irakli Kobakhidze concluded.
