PM says Georgia outperforms numerous EU states in economic performance, as global rankings affirm nationwide progress
“We pursue the soundest possible economic policy, a vital part of which is our approach towards the private sector. Georgia is leading the vanguard across all performance indicators,” the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, told journalists.
“We are outperforming not only all candidate nations but also numerous EU member states across every economic metric linked to national progress. Consequently, these latest rankings are entirely logical,” Kobakhidze stated.
For context, the Chandler Institute has published its 2026 Chandler Good Government Index, which ranks the Georgian government among Europe’s top 20 for governance that fosters private sector development. According to the report, Georgia outperforms all EU candidate countries and 17 EU and NATO member states, namely Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Malta, Cyprus, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, and Turkey.
