PM Pashinyan: I wish Georgia lasting peace and resolution of its challenges, including on territorial integrity

“I believe that Armenia and Georgia share common interests on the question of what we might call our region and the European Union,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared.

He added that Armenia and Georgia have a historic opportunity to overcome the problems and challenges they face.

“The economic relationship between Georgia and Armenia is deepening, rooted as it is in a longstanding tradition. It is no secret that Georgia has been, is, and will remain the most cherished destination for Armenian tourists. The number of tourists travelling from Georgia to Armenia is also growing, a trend that gives us great pleasure. It demonstrates that our active political friendship in culture, sport, economics, education and science is reflected in the bonds between our peoples.

At the prime ministerial level, we had the opportunity to speak about the past. I am glad that Armenia and Georgia cooperate actively on international platforms. We regard it as important that we support Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence, so that lasting peace may prevail in our region. This is precisely the foundation upon which Armenia and Azerbaijan have built their peace.

I believe this is truly a historic opportunity for our region, and I wish to express my sincere hope that Georgia, too, will achieve lasting peace and resolve the issues that concern it, including on the question of territorial integrity. We recognise that the challenges facing our region are not simple, but we have a great historical opportunity to overcome the existing problems and difficulties. We hope that these opportunities will be seized.

I briefed my Georgian colleague in detail on developments in Armenia within the regional and international agenda. I informed him of the developments within the framework of the Trump Route investment project, the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), as well as the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the process of normalising relations with Türkiye. I also spoke to him about the state of relations between Armenia and Russia. I believe we have shared interests and a shared drive on the question of what we call our region and the European Union,” Pashinyan said.
