PM meets OSCE/ODIHR Mission Head

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met the OSCE /ODIHR election observation mission Head, Albert Jonsson.

PM said the Georgian government would ensure the October 2 local elections be held in a free, fair and transparent environment as required by Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspiration.

Irakli Garibashvili thanked Albert Jonsson for involvement in Georgian local elections despite the Covid-19 pandemic. He pledged that specially elaborated protocols would guarantee the health of both the voters and election observers.

PM Garibashvili underlined that the ruling team cooperated closely with the election observers to ensure the effective implementation of their mandates. PM stressed that the government fully acknowledges the significance of 2021 local elections and is taking measures to provide equal conditions that would leave no room for political speculations.

The sides also reviewed the 2020 parliamentary elections in Georgia.
