PM Kobakhidze: UNM’s Baramidze’s statement was utterly repulsive; it was commissioned as part of a targeted anti-state campaign
“Baramidze’s statement was utterly repulsive. Behind all of this lies a specific order,” declared Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a press briefing at the Government Administration.
According to the PM, this was a targeted campaign, with Baramidze’s anti-state declaration forming an integral component.
“Regarding Baramidze’s statement, I offered a political assessment right from the outset. It was an utterly repulsive statement, and I believe a specific directive lies behind the entire affair. Other campaigns were tied to this as well, such as the one aimed at supplying fuel to Abkhazia. It was a deliberate campaign, and Mr Baramidze’s statement, which was not merely unjustifiable, but outright repulsive and anti-state, formed part of that campaign.
That is the political assessment. As for the legal assessment, political office-holders should not be handing down legal evaluations on such matters. Therefore, let us leave that issue to the competence of the authorities legally responsible for making relevant determinations. That falls squarely under the mandate of law enforcement agencies,” Kobakhidze stated.
