Gia Volski: Our goal is to uphold and advance every benchmark set by European research institutions; that is the essence of European standards
“Our task is to maintain or improve every standard assessed by the research organisations of European institutions, and to make them better. That is what a European standard means,” said Gia Volski, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
He said European standards are those established through in-depth research by the World Bank and other research organisations.
“The remarks of Kubilius or Juknevičienė, or statements by members of Gorbachev’s party, are not a European standard for us. A European standard is what the World Bank and other research organisations establish through in-depth research.
Every single resolution passed on Georgia so far is completely divorced from reality. Saakashvili is not an innocent man. There are no grounds for claiming that we are helping Russia’s policy by not going to war with it. Nor are there any grounds for claiming that someone you mobilised to commit a crime, so that you could then call them a political prisoner, has been detained for political reasons. They may be a politician, but that is no licence to introduce a culture of throwing so-called Molotov cocktails in the country,” Volski said.
