Bulgarian PM: Georgia and Bulgaria key to Black Sea security and the Middle Corridor
“I am very glad that we have a long-standing partnership and friendship with Georgia, rooted in historical and cultural ties. Georgia and Bulgaria are important countries in the Black Sea region when it comes to strengthening our security and developing connections of every kind, whether transport, energy or digital,” Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev told Georgian Public Broadcaster’s First Channel.
He said it is important to discuss how to make the link between Bulgaria and Georgia more effective.
“We already have fibre-optic cables running across the Black Sea and connecting Georgia with Bulgaria. As for the Middle Corridor, Bulgaria will host one of the most important conferences next year: a high-level conference on the Middle Corridor, which connects Central Asia and Asia with Europe. Bulgaria and Georgia will play a decisive role in this project. I would be delighted to be engaging with Georgian representatives on how we can strengthen our joint effectiveness, enhance operational efficiency, and secure the Black Sea to guarantee freedom of navigation. That is vital for us. And finally, we can argue about whose wine is better,” Radev said.
