PM Kobakhidze: Customs authorities enforcing strict measures to prevent sanctions evasion via Georgia
“The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance remains in constant, proactive coordination with our international partners in the enforcement of sanctions. Our Customs Administration is implementing rigorous controls to entirely prevent the use of Georgia’s territory for sanctions circumvention,” stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his speech at the International Customs Day event.
According to the Prime Minister, in 2025 alone, the Customs Department issued 2,658 decisions to refuse customs clearance and to return goods to their country of origin.
“The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance is in ongoing, operational cooperation with international partners in sanctions enforcement. Our Customs Administration maintains strict vigilance to ensure that Georgia’s territory is not exploited for evading sanctions.
In 2025, the department made 2,658 decisions to refuse customs operations and to return goods to their country of origin. This figure clearly demonstrates our government’s responsible approach to global security and reinforces Georgia’s reputation as a trustworthy international partner.
