“We see that a rather difficult situation has taken shape around us. Against that backdrop, it is all the more important to deepen cooperation between our countries still further,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a joint press briefing with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister noted that his meeting with his Armenian counterpart had featured a wide-ranging and substantive discussion on various aspects of bilateral cooperation.

“I wish once again to welcome my Armenian colleague, Mr Nikol Pashinyan, and the Armenian delegation to Georgia. Today saw the 15th Session of the Georgia-Armenia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, attended by ministers and representatives of the respective governments. A rich discussion took place on a range of issues relating to cooperation between our two countries. We see that a rather difficult situation has taken shape around us. And it is precisely against this backdrop that deepening cooperation between our countries becomes all the more important,” the Prime Minister said.

Kobakhidze stressed that cooperation between Georgia and Armenia is founded on mutual respect and shared interests.

“A historic friendship between our peoples and our nations binds us. It is upon this foundation that the strategic partnership between Georgia and Armenia has been built. We are pleased that our cooperation stands at such a high level, and yet there is an enduring desire to deepen our strategic partnership and traditional friendship still further. This cooperation is grounded in mutual respect and shared interests.

I wish to once again express my gratitude to Armenia for its support and respect for our national interests. I wish to express particular gratitude for Armenia’s support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Today, at the Commission session, I also extended our thanks to our friends for their support of the resolution on internally displaced persons at the United Nations,” the Prime Minister said.
