“Construction of Vaziani Airport will definitely begin at the end of next year,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

The Prime Minister noted that three investment structures are on the table: fully public, fully private, or a mixed-finance model.

“A final position has yet to be formed, including based on consultations with potential investors. We are currently evaluating three distinct implementation structures: fully public, fully private, or a mixed-finance model. We will settle on the final approach once consultations are complete. As for the budget, construction is scheduled to start in December next year; there will be no spending on the construction works themselves next year, and only initial costs will be provided in December. Beyond that, the processes will continue, and construction of Vaziani Airport will definitely begin at the end of next year. A fully transparent and open tender will be held, and whoever offers the best terms will win. We welcome the broadest possible interest, because broad interest means the state will get the maximum benefit from this project,” the Prime Minister said.
