Person connected to Grigol Liluashvili arrested for legalization of large-scale illegal income
Andria Liluashvili, a person connected to Grigol Liluashvili, has been arrested on charges of legalizing a particularly large amount of illegal income, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced at a briefing.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Liluashvili will face charges under Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a prison sentence of 9 to 12 years. Authorities will request pretrial detention from the court.
“As is publicly known, in recent days, as part of a joint operation by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia and the State Security Service, searches were conducted at the residences, apartments, and safes of former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, former Head of the State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili, former Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze, and individuals connected to them. During these searches, various electronic devices, documents, valuables, and a substantial amount of money were seized.
Today, in connection with this case, a person linked to Grigol Liluashvili, Andria Liluashvili, was detained on charges of legalizing a particularly large amount of illegal income. The detainee is charged under Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a sentence of 9 to 12 years of imprisonment. The Prosecutor’s Office will request the court, within the legally established timeframe, to impose preventive detention on the accused.
The Prosecutor General’s Office and the State Security Service continue to intensively investigate individuals who may have been in criminal connection with Andria Liluashvili, both under the aforementioned charges and under Article 339¹ of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to trading in influence. The authorities are also working to identify other persons involved in organized criminal activity and to carry out the necessary legal proceedings,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated.
On October 17, searches were conducted in the homes of Irakli Garibashvili, Grigol Liluashvili, Otar Partskhaladze and persons related to them. According to the prosecutor’s office, various electronic devices, documentation, and a large amount of cash were seized.
On October 18, the State Security Service confirmed that parallel searches had also been carried out at the homes of Romeo Mikautadze, Mikheil Chokheli, Vano and Tornike Parkauli, Andria Liluashvili, and their family members, as part of the investigation into organised criminal activity.
