Patriarchate urges investigation for publicizing so-called Cyanide Case materials
The Georgian Patriarchate urges the investigation for publicizing the materials related to Archpriest Giorgi Mamaladze, charged for the so-called Cyanide Case.
According to the statement made by the Patriarchate, lawyers and some church persons raise the issue of Mamaladze’s pardoning before Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II but the request is followed by misinformation, slander and menacing.
“Such an illogical move generates the suspicion that the development of events has a certain purpose and in fact, Mamaladze’s case is used for continuation of a campaign targeted against the Georgian church. Unfortunately, Mamaladze and his family members became co-participants of this discrediting campaign. Everyone knows that if the convict asks for pardoning and admits the guilt, the Patriarchate will make the plea,” reads the statement.
Besides, based on the statement, the Patriarchate considers that the inmate should also make public the scandalous letter sent to 4 church persons so that everyone knows about the accusations that Mamaladze makes against the church in the letter.
