Patriarch Shio III meets families of children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi, Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, Shio III, met with parents of children diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the Patriarchate of Georgia reports.
According to the statement, the Patriarch listened to the concerns and challenges shared by families of children living with the condition.
During the meeting, participants noted that Duchenne muscular dystrophy remains insufficiently studied in Georgia and requires greater attention at medical, social, and institutional levels.
It was agreed that working-format meetings will be launched at an initial stage, involving medical specialists and relevant experts. The initiative will include cooperation between the Patriarchate of Georgia, the Patriarchate University Clinic, field specialists, and other stakeholders.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of coordination with relevant state agencies. The planned work process aims to better assess the needs of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and their families and to explore ways to improve support and care in the future.
