Parliament Vice Speaker: PACE urges Georgian opposition to enter parliament

The Georgian Parliament Vice Speaker, Kakha Kuchava, echoed the PACE report published on Friday.

“The PACE report says Georgian opposition should continue working in the parliament, not in the streets,” Kuchava said.

“The report also mentions certain issues, the new parliament should work on,” Kuchava noted.

“The PACE members are concerned over the opposition’s ongoing boycott after successful elections. They urge the opposition parties to use the parliamentary mandates and carry on with their activities, not in the streets, but in the parliament,” Kuchava stressed.

Earlier today, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) published a report prepared by the Rapporteur Tiny Cox. The report covers the monitoring of the parliamentary elections in Georgia. PACE election observation delegation concluded that Georgia’s parliamentary elections were competitive and, overall, fundamental freedoms were respected.
