Parliament Speaker: Relations with the EU will be restored automatically once encouragement of radicalism ceases
“Judging by today’s statement from the EU Embassy, it seems they wish to restore dialogue through obscenity. Regrettably, this is the format we find ourselves in with the European Union today, when the EU Ambassador tells us that obscenity is Georgian cultural heritage and freedom of expression,” stated Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
Papuashvili noted that once EU institutions stop fueling radicalism, the path to repairing relations will open up automatically.
“I do not know whether hurling vulgar insults is common practice in Poland, his homeland, but in Georgia it is not, and he must conduct himself in a manner fitting Georgia.
As for relations with the European Union, once various EU institutions stop supporting radicalism, a path to restoring them will be found immediately. Today, radicalism stands as the barrier in this relationship; radicalism that is encouraged and funded by various EU funds, as well as through political statements. Today, the EU Ambassador directly and publicly encouraged obscenity in Georgia, framing it almost within the context of cultural heritage. As soon as the encouragement of radicalism ceases, relations will be restored automatically and naturally, because it is radicalism that stands as the barrier between Georgia and the European Union,” Papuashvili noted.
