Parliament Speaker hopes consensus to be reached over Electoral Reform
Parliament Speaker Kakha Kuchava said he hoped that a consensus would be reached over the Electoral Reform. He said representatives of the ruling team and the opposition were discussing the draft-bill.
Kuchava said the opposition’s distrust toward Tamar Zhvania, Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), was groundless. He noted that no international organization questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 parliamentary elections. He said faults were detected in the Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT).
“The demand to dismiss a person from his/her post should have substantial grounds. Tamar Zhvania will decide which step she should make in the future,” Kuchava said.
The second between the majority and the parliamentary opposition over the electoral reform was held in the parliament on May 14.
