Parliament Speaker: Document by EU mediator does not stipulate early elections

“Georgian Dream expresses readiness to implement the fundamental reforms in the Parliament proposed by the EU mediator”, Georgian Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze stated after a joint meeting mediated by Christian Danielsson, a personal envoy of the European Council President.

Talakvadze emphasized that the document proposed by the EU mediator did not stipulate the issue of early elections.

“The opposition did not agree with the document proposed by the mediator. They failed to express their readiness and responsibility to sign this document. Unfortunately, it blocked the achievement of the agreement and conclusion of the political dialogue. We express our readiness to rationally implement the fundamental reforms in the Parliament of Georgia proposed in the document under our responsibility,” Archil Talakvadze stated.
