Parent after meeting with Patriarch: He will communicate with all necessary people to resolve issue
A meeting between the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Shio III, and the parents of children diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy has concluded at the Georgian Patriarchate.
The meeting lasted for approximately two hours. According to the parents, the Patriarch listened to their concerns and promised support in addressing the issue.
Parents said further meetings will continue at the Patriarchate with the participation of church representatives and medical specialists. They added that, following consultations and coordination, the Patriarchate plans to mediate communication with the government regarding possible solutions.
One of the parents, Zakro Gvishiani, said they provided detailed information about the disease and available treatments, stressing that several medications used internationally are considered safe and that some publicly circulated claims about the condition have been inaccurate or incomplete.
According to him, the Patriarch pledged to communicate with relevant individuals, including doctors and healthcare professionals, in an effort to help resolve the issue more effectively.
Parents also stated that the Patriarchate promised continued spiritual support for the children, including blessings from the Patriarch during future church services.
