Opposition MPs meet representatives of EU member states
Parliamentary opposition MPs met representatives of the EU member states responsible for Eastern Partnership issues.
The sides spoke about the opinion to be published by the European Commission on Georgia’s candidate status on November 8 and the Georgian citizen fatally shot by the Russian occupying forces in Kirbali village on November 6.
“We all asked the delegation members to take into account the Georgian people’s will and the attitude of the political spectre, to consider not only the laws adopted by the Georgian Dream but also the bills initiated by the opposition,” said Davit Usupashvili, Chair of Lelo-Partnership for Georgia, adding candidate status would push Georgia onward to the European integration.
Also, according to Davit Usupashvili, the opposition MPs urged the delegation members to inform their governments about the Kirbali fact to “adequately assess the Russian aggression.”
Dirk Schubel heads the delegation of the officials of the European Union and several member countries for the Eastern Partnership that arrived in Georgia on November 6, including Gabriel Cremades, a representative of Spain, the European Council chair.
A Georgian citizen, Tamaz Ginturi, was killed during his illegal detention in the occupied territory of Kirbali village, and another Georgian citizen was abducted on October 6.
