Nika Gvaramia: Russia’s attack on Ukraine accelerated global geopolitical shifts, war creates geopolitical architecture
“Of course, Russia’s attack on Ukraine significantly accelerated geopolitical processes. What is unclear about that? This has always been discussed, but the window of opportunity opened not only for Ukraine, but also for Georgia, Moldova, as well as the Balkan countries,” stated one of the leaders of the Opposition Alliance, Nika Gvaramia.
He responded to remarks by Member of the European Parliament Rasa Juknevičienė, who said that “Georgia is failing to seize the momentum created by the window of opportunity opened by the Ukrainians; before the 2022 war, no one was talking about enlargement.”
According to Gvaramia, accelerated geopolitical shifts are a natural consequence of war.
“There has been an accelerated geopolitical shift because war is always and everywhere a creator of geopolitical architecture. If Georgian Dream does not understand this, that is not Rasa Juknevičienė’s problem,” he noted.
Commenting on the European Parliament resolution, Gvaramia said that fear of sanctions has long unsettled Bidzina Ivanishvili.
“At first it surprised me, but now it no longer does. If instincts or intelligence were insufficient, his backbone would at least have guided him toward the right conclusions. Now he is very frightened, and precisely because of that fear he is making radically wrong, diametrically opposite decisions. He is still capable of coming to his senses. If decisions are made that become irreversible, then it will no longer matter what Bidzina Ivanishvili does. Therefore, he should listen to his own interests and not those of his ridiculous puppet government. ,” Gvaramia said.
“Irakli Kobakhidze needs Ivanishvili here regardless of whether he is sanctioned or harmed in any way, as it serves to prolong their time in office. If Ivanishvili is sacrificing himself and his family so that Kobakhidze can remain prime minister, then congratulations,” he concluded.
