Official welcome ceremony held at Astana Airport for Georgian President
The Georgian President, Mikheil Kavelashvili, is on a working visit to the Kazakh capital, Astana, where he will participate in a regional ecological summit, the Georgian Presidential Administration has announced.
According to official reports, an official welcoming ceremony was held in honour of the Georgian President at Astana International Airport.
“President Mikheil Kavelashvili was received by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Oljas Bektenov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yermukhambet Konuspayev, and the Mayor of Astana, Zhenis Kasymbek.
The Georgian leader is scheduled to deliver a speech during the summit’s plenary session.
As part of the forum, organised in partnership with the United Nations, leaders from various nations will discuss the challenges posed by climate change and emphasise the importance of coordinated efforts to address these issues. The forum will also focus on connectivity, which is of critical importance for landlocked countries.
Participants include the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, and Armenia, as well as the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan. The event will also feature speakers from several international organisations.
During his visit, President Kavelashvili is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The Georgian delegation accompanying the President includes the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili, the Head of the Presidential Administration, Ketevan Kvinikadze, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili,” the statement concludes.
