Norwegian, Norway’s largest airline and the second-largest carrier in Scandinavia, has operated its first scheduled flight to the Georgian aviation market, the Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

The ministry said the inaugural flight arrived at Tbilisi International Airport, where it was welcomed by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani.

The low-cost carrier will operate the Copenhagen–Tbilisi–Copenhagen route twice a week.

The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Levan Moseshvili, Director General of the United Airports of Georgian, and Tea Zakaradze, General Manager of TAV Georgia, the company that manages Tbilisi and Batumi airports.

According to the ministry, 952,480 passengers traveled between Georgia and Europe during the first five months of 2026, representing an 18% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

During the peak of the 2026 summer aviation season, flights between Georgia and Europe will operate on 46 air routes, with approximately 170–175 weekly frequencies, the ministry said.
