Nino Lomjaria: We hope that causes of the explosion will be investigated and responsible persons identified

Public Defender Nino Lomjaria expresses sorrow over the tragedy that occurred in Didi Dighomi district of Tbilisi yesterday and offers condolences to the family members and relatives of the victims.

According to the statement released by the Ombudsman’s Office, the Public Defender considers that the authorities should spare no effort to provide the victims affected by this tragedy with medical, psychological and material support.

“In addition, the Public Defender expresses hope that the investigative agencies will investigate the causes of the explosion and devastating effects as soon as possible and identify the persons responsible for the accident.

The Public Defender once again calls on the government to define a specific list of construction materials that are prohibited to use; It is also necessary to improve the legislative guarantee for fire safety of facilities,” – reads the statement of the Public Defender Office.
