NCDC Chief meets UNICEF representative
Director General of Georgia’s National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) Irakli Purtseladze held an introductory meeting with UNICEF Representative in Georgia Isabella Castrogiovanni to discuss priorities for child health and well-being.
According to the NCDC, the meeting focused on key issues affecting children’s welfare, current challenges, and prospects for future cooperation between the two organizations.
The discussions also covered healthcare, education, and social protection, with particular attention given to immunization, public health electronic systems, viral hepatitis, environmental health, and lead surveillance.
The NCDC said Castrogiovanni praised the center’s work in the field of child protection and reaffirmed UNICEF’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at improving children’s well-being, expanding access to education, and strengthening public health in Georgia.
According to the agency, the UNICEF representative emphasized that the organization’s work in Georgia remains focused on protecting children’s rights and creating a safe environment for every child.
The meeting was also attended by NCDC Deputy Director General Irma Khonelidze and other officials from the center.
