National Bank of Georgia Governor Natia Turnava participated in the 95th annual meeting of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel.
The annual meeting was attended by governors of BIS member central banks and other central banks, as well as high-ranking guests.
This year’s main discussion topic focused on the experience of transition and emerging economy countries regarding the expansion of cross-border payments.
According to the NBG Governor, BIS annual meetings, which bring together central bank governors, “provide the best opportunity to share experiences and success stories with each other.”
NBG’s press offise saod Turnava had the opportunity to meet with European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde to exchange views on challenges facing the financial system. She personally thanked Lagarde on behalf of the National Bank for the ECB’s support.
