NATO Liaison Office Head urges politicians to return to inclusive reform agenda
Alexander Vinnikov, the Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia called on Georgian politicians to return to the inclusive reform agenda to further the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
Asked by the Kyiv Security Forum to comment about the recent developments in Georgia, Alexander Vinnikov stated:
“NATO has repeatedly expressed its concern about the draft law, adopted in first reading, which we believe represented a step backwards and sparked large-scale protests.
It is key for Georgia, as a NATO aspirant country, to have the right legal and institutional frameworks in place to ensure freedom of media and participation of civil society.
This is why we welcome the unconditional withdrawal of this draft law by the ruling party and parliamentary majority.
NATO encourages stakeholders from across Georgia’s political spectrum to return to an inclusive reform agenda, to further the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration,” he said.
