MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili: Opposition is tearing each other apart; all that’s left for us is to grab popcorn and watch

“Gvaramia’s main objective was to sideline the United National Movement to show that they are a dead end and convince sponsors to channel financial aid to his camp instead,” stated parliamentary majority MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili.

According to Sharmanashvili, disputes over the division of incoming foreign funding drive the infighting on the opposition flank.

What is driving this feud? Secret funds can no longer flow into Georgia as easily as they used to. The transparency law has effectively blocked most of those channels. With resources growing scarce, they can no longer agree on how to divide the remaining money, so they are desperate to prove to their benefactors that they are the primary opposition force deserving of funding.
