MP Zarkua: There are people in Senate who understand reality, that’s why act hostile to country was blocked

Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Diaspora Issues, Irakli Zarkua, said that Georgia had previously seen “international actors who had no connection with the country” appearing in foreign media, which, according to him, was the result of lobbying efforts.

“We remember when international actors who had no connection with Georgia were involved in the international press. We knew then that they were lobbyists. Don’t you remember when lobbyists wrote resolutions?” Zarkua stated.

According to him, the National Movement hired specific organizations to “blackmail Georgia.”

“Why should America impose sanctions on Georgia? These were the topics raised by lobbyists. The main lobbyist was the man who sells pens—Wilson. The man makes money by showing people around the White House, selling badges and pens. For years, the collective ‘National Movement’ has hired this man.  I’m sure this person can’t even tell you where Georgia is located on the map. They have hired people with such values. There are people in the Senate who understand reality, and that’s why an act hostile to the country was blocked,” Zarkua said.
