MP Makhashvili: True cost of Rep Joe Wilson’s support for Georgia is USD 360,000

“We had been saying that it would eventually be revealed that there was money behind Joe Wilson’s activism. Today, we have learned the true price of Joe Wilson’s love and friendship for Georgia. It is USD 360,000, approximately one million GEL,” stated Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament.

According to Makhashvili, “It turns out they are lobbying for free elections while, in Georgian politics, they are entirely radical, even in electoral processes.”

“We remember that many figures within Georgian politics were trying to earn millions of lari, and it now appears that Joe Wilson was also motivated by financial gains, attempting to profit from his involvement in Georgian affairs. Behind their alleged friendship and political activity lies money, not genuine love for Georgia. It’s clear they are engaged in lobbying under the guise of supporting free elections, but in reality, they promote radicalism within Georgian politics. This is a false pretext to justify their extremist stance.

What is Joe Wilson actually doing? What kind of posts does he share? These are direct incitements to radical agendas. In fact, they encourage radicalism within Georgian politics from the U.S. Congress. These are the true objectives pursued through this lobbying effort,” Makhashvili explained.

A document has been published on the U.S. Department of Justice’s Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) page, revealing that the United National Movement (UNM) party hired the lobbying firm Nelson Mullins and paid it USD 360,000. This lobbying firm actively finances the political campaigns of congressional and presidential candidates across both U.S. parties, including South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson.
