MP Levan Makhashvili: Reset of Georgia–Brussels relations underway, initiated by Speaker Papuashvili’s visit

“We can safely say that the process of restoring relations between Georgia and Brussels is already underway. It will be a lengthy and businesslike endeavour, but it is positive that we have launched this process with the Speaker of Parliament’s visit,” MP Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, told journalists in Luxembourg.

Makhashvili confirmed that the parliamentary delegation had met all its objectives during the Luxembourg visit.

“We have expressed a clear readiness to restore relations with Brussels, grounded in the principles of equality and fairness. Georgia asks only for fair treatment, objective assessment, and an unbiased stance.

During the meeting, we discussed the prospects that exist within the framework of bilateral relations. We can confidently say that this visit was a success,” Makhashvili stated.

As a reminder, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili previously paid an official visit to Belgium and is currently leading a Georgian parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Luxembourg.
