MP Irakli Kadagishvili: October 4 events were a provocation planned by Eurocrats and executed by local agents; now they seek to sweep it under the carpet

“The era of colour revolutions, coup attempts, and street uprisings in Georgia is firmly over,” Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Government Irakli Kadagishvili declared on Monday.

Kadagishvili asserted that while Georgia has moved past revolutionary politics, the radical opposition and some European Union bureaucrats, who openly supported an unconstitutional takeover rather than parliamentary elections a year ago, have failed to recognise this reality.

“Brussels’ silence indicates to me that this entire plot was encouraged and supported by them. Having suffered defeat, they are unwilling to admit backing such unconstitutional conduct, which is why they remain tight-lipped. Had the coup they supported succeeded, foreign ambassadors would have been the very first to line up inside the presidential palace; just as they previously rallied around Salome Zourabichvili under the pretext of supporting the presidency,” Kadagishvili stated.

“This was a deliberate provocation planned by them and executed by their local agents, which ultimately failed. Now, they simply wish to sweep the entire affair under the carpet as if nothing happened,” the committee chairman added.
