MP Bozhadze: Some opposition figures prefer prison over bail, commission testimony
“Unfortunately, some opposition figures would rather go to prison than pay bail and appear before the temporary investigative commission to answer questions,” said Vladimer Bozhadze, the parliamentary majority member.
“The case of Japaridze and Khazaradze is particularly regrettable. The questions concerning them date back to the time they were involved in business, specifically when TBC Bank was issuing loans to certain businessmen. These transactions were later scrutinised by Adeishvili’s Prosecutor’s office. Regarding bail, we have precedents. For instance, Nika Melia initially refused to pay bail but eventually did and entered Parliament. It is always better to follow the law. If someone aspires to be a politician and aims to come to power, they must respect the legal system. I am confident they will pay the bail finally,” Bozhadze stated.
