GD's Bozhadze: Parliamentary elections not planned; opposition should prepare for local polls

“The issue of scheduling parliamentary elections is not being considered. It would be most prudent for the opposition to prepare for local elections,” stated Vladimer Bozhadze, the parliamentary majority member.

According to him, the OSCE report confirmed that the 2024 parliamentary elections were competitive.

“The issue of scheduling parliamentary elections is not being considered. Parliamentary elections will be held on October 28, 2028, while local elections will be held on October 4. Perhaps Salome Zourabichvili was referring to preparation for these elections. The OSCE report clearly states in black and white that the parliamentary elections were competitive. The fact that the opposition lost the elections, sulked, and didn’t enter parliament doesn’t change reality – parliament is functioning. Accordingly, parliamentary elections are not being considered. The sooner they come to their senses and understand that elections will not be scheduled, the sooner they will begin preparing for local self-government elections. It would be most prudent for the opposition to prepare for local polls,” Bozhadze noted.
