Georgian Economy Minister and Chinese Vice President meet business representatives
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, together with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Vice President of the People’s Republic of China Han Zheng, attended a meeting with representatives of the Georgian and Chinese business communities.
Speaking at the event, organized by the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kvrivishvili noted that China is one of Georgia’s largest trading partners.
“Trade turnover amounted to USD 2.3 billion in January-September 2026, representing a 41% increase and making China Georgia’s second-largest trading partner. Despite this positive trend, we believe there is significant potential to further deepen trade and economic cooperation and expand bilateral trade, and both sides are actively working to realize this potential,” Kvrivishvili said.
In her address, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the Middle Corridor as one of the key areas of cooperation between Georgia and China, serving as a reliable transit route connecting China and Europe.
In this context, Kvrivishvili emphasized the strategic role of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port in the development of the Middle Corridor.
She also noted that the two sides are actively exploring the possibility of launching direct flights from Beijing, Guangzhou and Chengdu.
Kvrivishvili also focused on Chinese investment in Georgia.
“Since 2002, total investment from China in Georgia has exceeded USD 1 billion. In the first two quarters of 2026, China became Georgia’s largest investor country, with investments amounting to USD 236 million,” the Minister of Economy said.
