Economy Minister: Georgia sees significant potential to deepen trade and economic cooperation with China
China is one of Georgia’s largest trading partners, with bilateral trade turnover reaching USD 2.3 billion in January-September 2026, up 41%, making China Georgia’s second-largest trading partner, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili said.
Kvrivishvili made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of the Georgian and Chinese business communities, which she attended alongside Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Vice President of the People’s Republic of China Han Zheng.
Speaking at the event, organized by the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kvrivishvili noted that there was considerable potential to further expand trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
“Despite this positive trend, we believe there is significant potential to further deepen trade and economic cooperation and expand bilateral trade, and both sides are actively working to realize this potential,” Kvrivishvili said.
The Minister of Economy also highlighted Chinese investment in Georgia.
“Since 2002, total investment from China in Georgia has exceeded USD 1 billion. In the first two quarters of 2026, China became Georgia’s largest investor country, with investments amounting to USD 236 million,” Kvrivishvili said.
