Ministry of Economy - Number of tourists in Georgia's mountain resorts increased by 25% in 2017-2018
The number of tourists in Georgia’s mountain resorts has increased by 491% since 2012 – Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia said on April 27. According to the Ministry, in 2011-2012, the number of tourists increased by 491% on all four ski resorts (Gudauri, Bakuriani, Goderdzi, Svaneti) of Georgia.
“The data became available by installing contactless check points by the Austrian company “SKIDATA”, which allows to accurately calculate the number of visitors. This system is operated on all four ski resorts of Georgia,” Ministry reported.
In addition, according to the Ministry, the number of visitors in Georgia’s mountain resorts has increased by 25 % in 2017-2018.
“The mountain resort development company under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development has finished the 2017/2018 mountain ski season. In 2017-2018, the number of visitors has increased by 25 percent compared to the winter ski season of 2016-2017.
