Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze Wednesday reported to the parliament on implemented and ongoing projects.
During the Ministerial Hour, the Minister said the main part of the Rikoti Tunnel (which connects east and west Georgia) was completed in 2021, and the remaining portion will be ready by 2023.
In 2021, Irakli Karseladze said the Ministry carried out 5 600 projects with the involvement of 1500 companies and employing 27 thousand people.
Speaking about the opening of new highways, the Minister said that the works planned for 2022 would reduce the travel time from Tbilisi to Batumi to 3 hours and 40 minutes, while the development of the eastern Kakheti region’s road infrastructure would take travellers 1 hour and 20 minutes to arrive from Tbilisi to Telavi.
