Minister of Health meets Adjara Head of Government and Health Minister to boost regional healthcare infrastructure
The Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Mikheil Sarjveladze, has held a meeting with Zurab Pataradze, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and Nino Nizharadze, the regional Minister of Health and Social Affairs.
According to the Ministry, Mikheil Sarjveladze discussed ongoing infrastructure projects in Adjara aimed at expanding access to healthcare services for the region’s population.
“Discussions focused on the construction of a modern primary healthcare centre and a new facility for the emergency medical services in Batumi.
As noted during the meeting, the project will establish a modern primary healthcare facility equipped with cutting-edge technology and enhance the rapid and effective response capabilities of medical personnel.
The parties also reviewed the construction of a new paediatric department at the Batumi Republican Clinical Hospital, which is nearing completion and will further increase the availability of paediatric services in the region.
Mikheil Sarjveladze emphasised that supporting ongoing infrastructure developments in Adjara and reinforcing the local primary healthcare sector remain top priorities for the Ministry. The Minister stated that these initiatives will further elevate access to high-quality medical services in the region, directly impacting patient well-being.
The meeting also addressed other health and social protection programmes, and prospects for their expansion. Furthermore, the sides deliberated on strategies to foster even closer cooperation between central and local government authorities,” the official statement read.
