Minister of Education meets UNESCO Director-General to bolster cooperation in education
The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, has held a working meeting in Paris with Khaled El-Enany, the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, the sides discussed the significance of the long-standing partnership between Georgia and UNESCO, and prospects for strengthening future cooperation.
The Minister briefed the UNESCO Director-General on the ongoing and planned reforms within the Georgian education system.
Particular emphasis was placed on the provision of fully funded degree programmes at Georgia’s state universities, quality assurance across all levels of education, and the promotion of vocational training.
Khaled El-Enany highly commended the current reforms in the Georgian educational sector and expressed the organisation’s readiness to remain actively supportive of the development of the country’s education, science, and cultural spheres.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to maintain close cooperation to deliver joint projects and initiatives.
The bilateral meeting was also attended by Irakli Kurashvili, the Ambassador of Georgia to the French Republic and Permanent Representative of Georgia to UNESCO.
