Minister of Economy emphasizes fragile traditional routes, demand for new corridors, vows Georgia's readiness to be a reliable partner

“Today, Georgia is purposefully developing into a country where Europe and Asia not only meet geographically, but are also effectively connected,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, during the presentation of Georgian Railway’s Modernization Project.

According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, geographical location gives Georgia unique opportunities, while its efficient use is the country’s rational choice. She noted that in this process, the railway is the backbone on which the country’s economic future, regional role, and global integration rest.

“The latest global developments and events in our region clearly demonstrated how fragile traditional routes are. Risks increased, and demand for new, reliable and predictable corridors emerged. The Middle Corridor has become significant, and that is why the increased interest in Georgia is not a coincidence, but a logical result,” she said.

Mariam Kvrivishvili stated that Georgia is ready to take responsibility to be a reliable partner.

“We are actively working with Azerbaijan, Central Asian countries, and China. With joint efforts, the Middle Corridor is no longer just a prospect but is becoming a real and increasingly competitive alternative in global trade,” she said.
