Jailed ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili’s supporters and family members are rallying at the government administration, calling for his release and transfer abroad for medical care.
Saakashvili’s Mother Giuli Alasania explained that today’s rally aims “to save a person’s life.” “Although I am appreciative of the Vivamed doctors, his condition has not changed. He is critically unwell,” She noted.
The opposition party members from the United National Movement, Lelo, Strategy Agmashenebeli, and Girchi-More Freedom, are also attending the rally.
The UNM Chair Nika Melia said, “a number of expert reports show that he could not be treated in Georgia and his transfer abroad is the only option.”
The protesters warn that if the government does not make the transfer decision within a week, they will start ongoing protests.
