Migration Department deports 126 foreign nationals
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) says the Migration Department, in coordination with other ministry units, has deported 126 foreign nationals from the country following a series of operations conducted in recent days.
According to the ministry, those removed from Georgia included citizens of Turkey, India, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Nigeria, Jordan, Burundi, Sudan, China, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Lebanon, Moldova, the Philippines, and several other countries.
The MIA said that 2,036 foreign nationals residing illegally in Georgia have been deported during the first six months of 2026, a figure it said significantly exceeds the total number of deportations recorded during the previous year.
The ministry also noted that, as of July 1, 2026, several provisions introduced through amendments to Georgia’s Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons have entered into force.
According to the MIA, the new regulations are intended to address contemporary migration challenges, establish more effective mechanisms for managing migration processes, and strengthen state security.
