MIA reports detention of nine more individuals in connection with October 4 Tbilisi events

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has detained eight additional suspects in connection with the incidents that occurred in Tbilisi on October 4, Deputy Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze announced at a briefing, adding that four people remain at large.

Additionally, the Ministry confirmed the arrest of another individual, identified as A.S., born in 1987, related to the incident.

To date, a total of 45 people have been detained in connection with the case.

“Our officers continue to identify and hold accountable those responsible for the unlawful and violent acts committed in Tbilisi on October 4. Through comprehensive operational and investigative measures, law enforcement has detained eight more individuals: Z.A., A.D., I.Ch., Kh.G., G.Ch., G.M., R.M., and I.D.. Later, one more suspect, identified as A.S., born in 1987, has also been apprehended,” Darakhvelidze stated.

The investigation reveals that, despite multiple public appeals urging peaceful demonstrations and adherence to legal boundaries, the participants on Atoneli Street engaged in illegal and violent conduct.

Video footage and media reports show that some of the accused verbally and physically assaulted police officers, hurling heavy objects and stones. Additionally, they attempted to storm the Presidential Palace, causing damage to the palace’s fences.

The case is being prosecuted under Articles 187, 222, 225, and 317 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The Ministry’s personnel are actively pursuing further leads to identify additional perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice.

“We will continue to provide the public with updates on this case,” Darakhvelidze assured.
