MIA detains 12 individuals for violating law on assembly and manifestation
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained twelve individuals over the past 24 hours for violation of the Law on Assembly and Manifestation.
According to the MIA, participants at the rally on Rustaveli Avenue continue to act unlawfully, despite the limited numbers involved, by deliberately obstructing the roadway and hindering traffic and public transport.
Some protesters were also found wearing face masks, which constitutes an administrative offence.
“We remind all involved that repeated violations will result in criminal proceedings. The MIA once again urges rally organisers and participants to adhere to the law; failure to do so will prompt law enforcement to act within their mandate, identify those responsible, and take appropriate measures,” the MIA stated.
