Media Advocacy Coalition urges MIA to probe into assault on Georgian First Channel film crew

Media Advocacy Coalition calls on the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to probe into the recent case of physical assault on Georgian First Channel film crew in the town of Dmanisi, the Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia.

Some members of the two groups engaged in a violent brawl on Monday clashed with a reporter, cameramen, and photojournalist of the Georgian First Channel while covering the events in Dmanisi.

Media Advocacy Coalition called for MIA to conduct a thorough investigation into the violent attack on the crew and allow journalists to freely cover the ongoing processes in Dmanisi.

The conflict sides have reconciled earlier today. The situation became tense between ethnic Azerbaijani and the local population on Sunday. Reportedly, two men entered the shop and asked the seller to give away alcoholic drinks on credit. The seller’s refusal to do so resulted in a mass confrontation.
