Mayor: No one happy about dispersing rallies; It was necessary to prevent tragic consequences

“No one is happy about dispersing rallies; this was a necessary measure to prevent the tragic consequences that could have occurred for each of us,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated in his Facebook video.

As he noted, “preventing violence and enforcing the law is the state’s obligation.”

He praised the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “for protecting the population’s safety, patience, enduring physical and verbal abuse, and withstanding incredible pressure.”

“I also thank all state agency employees, including Tbilisi City Hall staff for fulfilling their duties perfectly despite unimaginable pressure and bullying.

Thanks to our supporters, 1.2 million people who entrusted us with this country’s fate and the future of your families.

I promise that we will definitely have peace, and economic development in the country, and we will walk the path of European integration with dignity,” the Tbilisi Mayor noted.
