Mayor Kaladze: October 4 events were directed from Europe to install foreign agents in power
“European institutions offered nothing but encouragement regarding the October 4 events, as they directly funded the attempted coup d’état,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze told journalists on Monday.
Kaladze noted that one year after the October 4 events, European bodies have failed to take any corrective action or issue official condemnations.
“I have heard no official statements or accountability from European structures; on the contrary, there was only encouragement, because this entire campaign was planned by them. It was with their facilitation and funding that a campaign aimed at a coup d’état and revolution was launched. Their overriding objective was to overthrow the legitimate government of this country,” Kaladze stated.
“If we look at internal domestic processes over recent years and where they are being directed from, the picture is clear: they seek to install their own agents in power to exploit Georgia and the Georgian people for their own geopolitical interests. Regrettably, this is the reality we face,” the Mayor added.
